carolina (ka-ro-lee-nah) was born in switzerland to brazilian parents fleeing dictatorship, grew up in brazil, europe and the usa, played in bands, studied film. an art director for mtv brazil in the early 90’s, she moved to the usa in 1999, received an m.f.a., was awarded a chicago emmy for her short documentary television work, and received the women in film / general motors emerging latina filmmaker award in 2005.

she recently served as founding director of the boocoo cultural center, is working on a documentary called viva viva, as well as several other short videos. a founding volunteer of inner city farmers market west end market, she currently serves as communications director and development associate for an international charitable organization. carolina seeks balance between work and art, and meaning in both.
